As you know, I'm a big fan of the Mega Man franchise and so I introduce you to the game that got me into the series. It's an infamous entry in the franchise though. While the graphics, music, and gameplay hold up pretty well despite a couple of notorious spots here and there, everything else however does not. You'll know it when you see it and hear it. Yep, this is the one that introduced anime cutscenes to convey the plot and they're not very good. The English voice cast takes all the blame for that, ugh! The story begins in deep space where two robots are battling it out. The purple robot gets away while the blue robot gives chase. Their travels lead them to planet Earth where the two of them begin to burn up in the atmosphere. Meanwhile, Mega Man is engaged in a battle against Bass. I'm going to ignore the English dub script if you don't mind. Mega Man finds their rivalry pointless and doesn't want to fight. He's called away by Roll who has a mission for him from Dr. Light. Bass swears vengeance for Mega's insulting cowardice. Dr. Light tells Mega that a meteorite carrying an ominous energy signature has crashed on a mysterious island near Hawaii. As Mega goes to investigate, Light gives him a new weapon called the Mega Ball. After destroying the island's guardian, he finds that Dr. Wily apparently owns the island and has beat him to the meteor. He now plans to use this meteor's energy to make his robots more powerful. After he gets away, Mega inspects the crater and finds a damaged robot. Dr. Light takes it back to his lab for repairs while Mega prepares to deal with a new set of Robot Masters wreaking havoc in parts of the Northern & Southern American continent, Australia, and Japan.
