Let's Play Megaman Makeshift (SAGE 2019)
11Welcome to my blind live Let's Play of Mega Man Makeshift (PC), a 3D Mega Man Classic fangame developed by ZachXevious. This was a submission for SAGE 2019.
The story here is that you play as a prototype robot built in the image of Mega Man. Your final goal is to "fill in the gaps and provide support in areas Mega Man can't be". But in order to ensure readiness, you must complete a series of training missions.
Compared to its spiritual predecessor in SAGE 2018, this was executed SIGNIFICANTLY better. The graphics, music, gameplay, level design, and polish are noticeably improved. The addition of cosmetics adds some exploration and replay value. There are still issues, like the audio and weapon balancing, as well as the final boss. But overall, I found this to be an okay to decent fangame.
On that note, I first thought this was only going to be a 2-3 level demo, not an entire fangame. Props to Zach for going the extra mile. I would have preferred one or two more stages to round things out (perhaps one more "open" stage), and more enemy types and bosses, but this works. I'd like to see the execution expanded and polished further into a longer experience.
