The first appearance of everyone's most hateful character Axl and starts out where Axl betrays Red and left Red Alert and wanted to team up with X then X gets a call from Red and challenge them a duel meaning that if X defeats all Red's 8 Mavericks he'll let him keep Axl but if Red wins he'll decide the hard way so Zero Axl and X (You won't be able to select X for the time being until you save a certain amount of Reploids or beat all 8 Mavericks but since I am playing this on a New Game+ file I won't have to worry about that) are set to put a end to Red's war.
