Let's Play Metal Slug X Part 11 - A Final Shot at the Most Brutal Survival Attack Mode
Gunning and shooting our way through the one of many arcade-replica classics from the nineties here that is none other than the second and improved version of the Metal Slug series here, known simply as Metal Slug X, where we'll have one damn of a tricky time surviving this one unscathed!
So, it all comes down to this most challenging mode of them all: Survival Attack.
As I emphasized in the last video's description, Survival Attack does not screw around here as it's all I imagined it to be difficulty-wise, and it's not a forgiving game mode at that! Since you're not being tested by how quickly you can complete one particular level of Metal Slug X but rather the whole game, the developers got a little creative here and, instead of measuring you on how long you take to complete the whole game, (without DYING, I might add!) they gauge your success on how 'far' you make it into the game via a literal measurement of the 'distance' you have traveled in the levels, Kilometres and all!
It's an interesting way of getting you to try and push further and further into the game itself, literally with just a single life and all, as you hone your gunning skills the more you get in the game as well as developing your knowledge of the variety of deadly enemies in the game and how to handle them, plus refining your abilities to evade all of their attacks as well!
However it is too bad that I'm not THAT good when it comes to these sorts of arcade games! Now if you gave me a good several dozen hours over the course of a few weeks to a couple of months, I'd wager I could put in some serious progress from where I stand right now, however it simply wouldn't be feasible for a casual playthrough such as here, so alas it is a mere dream for us two for now!
Still, despite that bloody cheap death from the slighty-green and moldy mummy that doesn't spew out semi-lethal breath that mummifies you but rather spits out little insectoid flies that, unlike their breath, ARE dangerous enemies and will kill you like all the others upon contact, I'll take the hit and go home with a not-bad 8.33 Kilometres after just a mere two tries at that! (Just a bit miffed that it only gained me a total of 26 points, not even enough for a new promotion at that!)
Ah well, the rest was just me messing around once more with the Pin Point Attacks for shits and giggles, not much else to be said here other than it was a grand old time revisiting this game that I played almost two whole decades ago at that, now finally experiencing what it's like to play proper co-op on this game and all with my dear cousin at that!
I reckon the next game will be a bit of a departure from the arcade scene, but may very well also be a revisiting of sorts as well to a different style of gaming, so have fun with that one folks!
In any case, I hope you enjoyed the video and any constructive comments or criticism is appreciated!
