Tifa is super busy at work again, so Jack gets to play a game that she does not care for - Metroid: Zero Mission!

Being a remake of the NES Metroid, Metroid: Zero Mission completely revamps the game and retells the story of Samus Aran's first mission after becoming a renowned bounty hunter. A comepletely overhauled game world and a map system, graphics and gameplay on the same level as Metroid Fusion and a bunch of additional upgrades make this the definitive version of Metroid. It's chronologically the first game in the series and even adds a bunch of story elements for good measure.
Plus, you get to unlock a GBA version of the original game!

But while Metroid: Zero Mission is one of the best remakes one can ask for, it's not a perfect game if you're a completionist. Casually, the game is perfectly fine to play through, though.

Some power-ups aren't accessible until what's basically the last 10 minutes of the game. And at that point, the game starts overly relying on your latest weapon, which has ridiulously limited ammo and no easy way to replenish it. Combine that with an approach that can be boiled down to "just use that super rare thing you got on random walls, bro", it get's frustrating.
To add insult to injury, the open world-ish aspect gets reduced to effectively being rail-roaded into one specific way to get back to previous areas. It makes some sense story-wise, but it doesn't feel great to get kneecapped while backtracking.
And if all of that wasn't enough, some power-ups require you to pull off sequences of moves that can be just too much. It's rewarding if you really want to challenge yourself, but frustrating if you didn't expect the sudden, massive difficulty spike.
