The moment has finally arrived. The game of the week! The game which everyone around the nation has been talking about all season long. A matchup featuring a battle of top-10 ranked opponents. A matchup featuring a rematch from the previous season. A battle at the Horseshoe between the USC Trojans and the Ohio State Buckeyes. For USC, they are the clear favorites amongst much of the national media pundits to win this one. For the Trojans, quieting this raucous crowd with win here would keep them in contention for a possible national championship. For Ohio State, though, much more is on the line with this game than just contending for a championship. Over the last few years, a general perception has developed that they are overrated, that they can't keep up with the likes of the SEC, Big 12, and Pac-10, thanks to consecutive national championship losses to Florida and LSU respectively, and of course, last season, when they traveled to Southern Cali and got spanked by this team, and also their loss to Texas in the bowl game. Not only is a chance to play for the national championship hang in the balance with this game for the Buckeyes, but a victory here would also help them earn back respect from their peers that they had lost over the past few years. If they are to win, though, they are going to have to get much more production out of their young, but raw quarterback Terrelle Pryor, who as you saw, went 5 of 11 against Navy for only 35 yards. With that, the stage is set. Can the Ohio State Buckeyes ride the support of 106,033, the largest home crowd they've ever had in attendance, to a major upset, and thus, regain national respect? Or will the Trojans quiet the city of Columbus and pull off a repeat of last season? Fasten your seatbelts everyone, cause it's gonna be a good one!
