Nier: Automata is Yoko Taro's unexpected sequel to 2010's cult hit, Nier which was itself a sequel to one of the bad endings of Drakengard. Between Nier and Nier: Automata, there is a cornucopia of novels, drama CDs, and stage plays to bridge the several millennia long gap. You might be thinking that Nier: Automata sounds like it will be imprenetrable, but it really isn't. In fact, you don't really even need to have played Nier to pick up and go through Automata. The original game along with the bevvy of side content and the Drakengard series will help to contextualize certain aspects of Automata's story, but it stands strongly on its own.
As you might imagine, storytelling is important to Nier: Automata. Yoko Taro is capable of telling profound, stirring, and deeply philosophical stories that are both wild and sometimes a bit convoluted. Nier: Automata, being a joint collaboration with Platinum games, not only tells a brilliant story full of intricate themes and allegories, but plays impeccably well, too.
Nier: Automata is a sonically, visually, and ludically wonderful package. In this LP I will do my best to demonstrate all of what makes it so fantastic, and I will also be showing all 26 endings. Yes, I said 26 - twenty six - endings.
