We meet Eve face to face, and get some cryptic speech about cells and awakening before shooting her a few times, and then chasing after her...after pausing a bit to go talk with the backup and get patched up and some extra ammo.

Also, I have no idea what I was thinking when I said you could see the enemies before you fight them. The battles still aren't random....what actually happens is that every screen has a hotspot or two on it. Generally, the first time you pass by the hotspot, it'll trigger, but each time after that, it becomes random whether that hotspot will trigger, and the more you use it, the lower the chance it triggers becomes.
