Pokemon: Platinum Version is a Japanese-style role-playing game that was developed by Game Freak and published by Nintendo for the Nintendo DS. It was released in 2008 in Japan and in 2009 in other regions. Platinum is the "enhanced" version of the fourth generation of Pokemon games Pokemon Diamond and Pearl Versions, released two years previous in each region (2006 in Japan and 2007 worldwide). Diamond and Pearl were remade as Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl with updates from newer Pokemon games and released in 2021 on the Nintendo Switch.

In Pokemon Platinum, the player takes up the role of a new, aspiring Pokemon Trainer in the Sinnoh Region. Sent forth on their quest by Professor Rowan, the player seeks to discover all the Pokemon in Sinnoh, earn all eight gym badges, become the champion of the Pokemon League and defeat the nefarious Team Galactic.
