0Azure dreams had a really interesting premise. A dungeon crawl RPG, with town builder and dating sim all in one. When I first played it, I had a lot of fun with it because, well, I like the dungeon crawl aspect for sure. Today, with more critical eyes, the US release is definitely missing something. That something, as it turns out, is voice acting for most of the major characters in the game. I have to say a dating sim without voice acting just isn't the same. Hearing the different character's voices is really important, considering the dating sim isn't very deep to begin with. And just having those extra "hi" sound effects from random towns people adds a lot too. I don't know why they removed all of that. Probably budget constraints.
It's a real shame it's not easier to rom-hack PS1 games. It would make the game so much better if this could get an english re-translation for the text, so you could still hear the voices while playing in english.
