Let's Play Quake Remastered #16: Reaching the Final Hurdles
It's safe to say that this is the furthest I've ever gotten in this game. My previous excursions into Quake were limited to the first episode and a the first few levels of the others, back when I was a teenager and my preferred FPS games were the DOOM games, Unreal Tournament and Deus Ex.
Yes, I know Deus Ex is more an RPG with FPS and stealth elements but there we go.
One thing I can say that is that the game is pulling none of its punches now and I am falling for the many tricks that it launches at me. That said, the game has never been unfairly difficult; all the challenges are surmountable, even if you need some forward knowledge or extremely quick reactions to get by some of them relatively unscathed. I imagine it would be far easier if I weren't playing on hard but I don't regret picking that difficulty and I'm confident that I can see the base game to its end provided they don't throw seventy billion more slime monsters at me.
What's that, game? You're going to throw seventy billion slime monsters at me even though I asked you nicely not to?
Well, that's just rude.
