Let's Play Random Realms (P9)
And now I feel like we're returning to the point of "too easy" again. This isn't a flaw of this game, in particular, but rather a very difficult balance issue to address in roguelikes altogether. I believe the TVTropes term is "linear warriors, quadratic wizards" where the enemies are the warriors and you are the wizard.
After overcoming the rather steep challenges early on, you pull ahead and start breezing through everything, only to get stronger and stronger. Often this is addressed by adding cliffs, in which the game suddenly takes a much harder turn: this works to some extent, since players do like to feel empowered at times, but it's not a truly "balanced" curve. One day I'd like to see a roguelike that's been refined to this degree: I'm probably lucky enough that a few already exist!
