So long story short, bar cheating there was no way to push back against the Spanish. I've tried several times over the last three or four days and while I could stop them they would just hit me again with another twenty unit army.

It's kind of bullsh*t that an unplayable empire grinds me down into the ground when I have two playable factions on the god damned ropes.
