Finally, we get to venture to fight the Loch Ness Monster! Hydrus is a rather passive colossus whose only method of attack is by zapping you by his three lightning rods on his back. Grab on to his tail where you're safe from getting zapped and made your way up his back. The three minor sigils along the back control the lightning rods; hit the sigil and you destroy the rod and can move further up his back.
This is a very easy encounter that is only complicated by his diving deep under the lake. After about two minutes on his back, he'll dive and you have to repeat the process (but the lightning rods stay off if you've hit the sigils). Once on his head, it's a very simple matter to fell Hydrus after a couple of fully-charged sword thrusts. Epic in presentation, but quite possibly the easiest colossus on Hard Mode because it takes almost identical damage to Normal Mode Hydrus.
