0Sid Meier's Railroad Tycoon is a gem of transport management games, even twenty-six years later. Unlike many later games of the genre, it allows significant flexibility in difficulty, letting you skip the hardships of route management or fixed production chains should you so choose - or at the other side of the scale, challenge your management skills to the brink of madness.
This game is now abandonware, and the good people over at the Internet Archives have made it available to play in a browser dosbox, which is what I'm doing here - you can find the game at https://archive.org/details/railroad_tycoon_1990
Be aware that this version has the copy protection intact - but the manual is also available at the archives. The dosbox also has a few config issues, so you might need to use the NumLock key rather than Shift to lay tracks - and whatever you do, don't build iron bridges, they seem to crash the game. :-p
