A full playthrough of Sonic The Hedgehog. Filled with gameplay and commentary I'll walkthrough this classic speed-focused platformer for the Sega Megadrive / Genesis.

There are few games as iconic as Sonic 1. The birth of a mascot, a new design philosophy and a franchise with a bumpy history. Its origins however are a game everyone should experience, first hand if you can, but if not then at least have a watch; whilst it might not look impressive by modern standards this game was a breakthrough towards rapid action the likes of which we had not seen before.

It's a simple platformer with a bizarre plot, can one oddly coloured, inexplicably fast hedgehog save the rest of his forest animal pals from eternal enslavement at the hands of an evil mad scientist. Yeah it doesn't make sense, but no one in the series' history focused on the plot. Well they tried to in '06, but we don't talk about that. We're here for the gameplay, we're here for the speed.

I'm not the best at this game, Sonic 2 was more my thing, but out of respect we need to pay Sonic The Hedgehog a visit, and see everything it has to offer. Expect deaths, expect mistakes, but expect a good time along the way.
