In this episode, the USS Resolute's diplomatic mission to the Hotari system presses forward. They're joined on their missing by the esteemed Ambassador Spock, working well below his paygrade as he struggles to contain Commander Jara Rydek's unpredictable and chaotic nature. As Jara's attention wavers and her choices become increasingly impulsive, tensions rise and the delicate balance of the diplomatic mission hangs in the balance. Will Spock be able to guide Jara and the crew towards a peaceful resolution?
Meanwhile, Petty Officer Carter Diaz finds himself caught in a web of uncertainty. He suspects security officer Miranda Maris may be a double-agent, as her behavior becomes increasingly erratic. Or perhaps Carter's own struggles with relationships cloud his judgment? Will Carter uncover the truth or will he be deceived by his own insecurities?
Oh, and remember the Tkon Empire from the first-season TNG episode "The Last Outpost"? I didn't either, but they're here too!
