As Rintaro eagerly awaits the arrival of the IBN 5100, Mr. Braun hands him a letter penned by the now aged Suzuha. As he reads it, Rintaro's heart goes cold: the weather damage to the time machine caused it to malfunction, despite Daru's repairs. As a result, Suzuha had amnesia and never obtained the IBN 5100. When she remembered her mission too late, Suzuha's despair caused her to take her own life, prompting Rintaro to try and find a way to avert this dark fate, as well as that of Mayuri.
