In this first episode Takumi is living a normal life within the Tokyo Residental Complex but when he's walking to school with his friend Karua a standard siren goes off so they stay in a underground shelter but when they get above ground monsters are attacking everyone and a mysterious creature gives Takumi a dagger that activates powers inside himself and so he is dragged away from both his mundane life and Karua into an academy where he must put his life on the line to defend it.
