Let's Play Wolfenstein: The New Order [Part 23] - Da'at Yichud Vault
Hello and welcome to another gameplay video of Wolfenstein The New Order featuring me, FerrousPilot (name dropping myself in my own video description? classic). So you may remember the last episode of this let's play didn't end on a particularly high note. In fact, it ended with the death of our hero William B.J. Blazkowicz, not through any fault of his own or some narrative event, but through the gameplay, which proved too difficult for yours truly.
Luckily for you fine folks, I persevered off-screen and died like 2-3 times. But then I tried again and actually succeeded where I failed. However by that point I had been torn to pieces, so the commentary sounds like something you'd hear out of a child squirrel-chipmunk doing stream of consciousness commentating over the gameplay of Wolfenstein The New Order, and not a grown man doing, well, pretty much the same. And for that, I am truly sorry. The upside is that this particular gameplay segment only lasts for a few minutes, so that majority of the episode is actually some pretty cool stuff that pertains to the story and the plot of Wolfenstein The New Order.
Speaking of the story and the plot, I've said before that this game manages to blend together moving and emotional moments with insane cheesy action movies style shenanigans in a seamless and entertaining fashion. Well, certain narrative events in this episode of Let's Play Wolfenstein: The New Order totally reaffirm my previous claims.
You might think it's because of the undersea Vault of the Da'at Yichud, a secretive group of Jewish engineers and scientists who desire to commune with god by way of developing highly advanced technology, mentioned in the title. That is only partly true. Although Set Roth and his kind have done fantastic job of developing something even the creators of Atlantis would find awesome, there is one particular bit of dialogue that makes me totally lose it. In fact, it just takes three words from the mouth of the good Private Wyatt.
Watch the video and you will see why MachineGames, the developers of Wolfenstein The New Order are true masters of storytelling, the likes of which make Shakespeare look like a petty copywriter for upworthy.
