Let's Play Wolfenstein: The New Order [Part 22] - Train Man

I'm not the best at FPS gameplay, but that last episode of Wolfenstein: The New Order was not my fault. How was I to know that the giant nazi mechanical suit slash robot machine gun guy would one-shot me with a punch to the face if I got too close to him. I mean, sure, he looked dangerous, but from a gameplay standpoint nothing indicated that that would happen, other than him being way bigger than Blazkowicz, and scary, and strong and stuff. What I'm trying to say is Wolfenstein The New Order has some pretty fantastic gameplay design, but I have poor situational awareness which makes me die.

Anyway, the story up until this point is we went through the sewers in a submarine and are trying to steal a train. Well, after kill the robot nazi dude, we do just that. But just when you think it's time for more fetch quests back at HQ, Wolfenstein really kicks the narrative into gear. Instead of heading home, we're sent to go shoot nazi seamen inside of a nuclear aircraft carrier. So basically, the core gameplay of Wolfenstein The New Order, but inside of an aircraft carrier. Cool with me. At least it's better than the amazingly plot related cutscenes of Blazkowicz getting high on LSD and then making babies with Anya in the closet. Seriously though MachineGames, I understand that character development is an important part of the narrative and that Wolfenstein the New Order is as much about the personal story of William B.J. Blazkowicz and his compatriots in the fight against the nazis as it is about, well, the fight against the nazis.

As interesting as the characters and the storyline are, there's some pretty absurd stuff going down in the near future. Seriously, you'll flip. It's insane. I won't spoil the story but man, is it awesome. Whatever, the gameplay is still the best part of Wolfenstein: The New Order. I mean, it is a game after all.
