On today's episode of Let's Play Yu-Gi-Oh: The Sacred Cards, we win the Battle City finals because Marik forgot how deck building works and has a hand of dead cards! Am I going to redo this battle? Nah. Too much work.

After that we win the god cards but Ishizu won't let us keep them. And Marik is instantly forgiven despite the whole... Murdering a bunch of people thing,

Seriously my headcanon is that Marik was extradited to Japan after the series was over.
