Edit: Megeman X is the sequel series to the X series. Even though the Classic Series wasn't over yet. The X Series has a lot more controls in then then the Classic series which is the reason I like to play the X series more.

Megaman X was Dr. Lights last creation, but he didn't want to release him before he was ready and ended up having X wait 100 years before Dr. Cain ended up opening his capsule. What I didn't know was that the Repliods (short for replica)are robots based after X's design made by Dr. Cain. After releasing them a virus had started to infect the repliods causing them to go "Maverick" (though as the series goes on there are other ways for Reploids to become Maverick but in the end being a Maverick means) meaning that they would attack humans. Soon Cain had created the Maverick hunters to defeat them, but after their lead man Sigma went Maverick a lot of the Hunters left with them. Leaving mostly Megaman and Zero to deal with the Mavericks.

Note: This is my summed up version of the X series, but not everything is correct so please don't take everything by heart. I'm trying to make this as readable as possible.
