You are Mika, a witch in training sent by your mother to study at her old magic school. Upon getting there you find out that your moms letter of recommendation doesn't mean squat, and the head witch decides to boot you down the mountain to learn a few lessons before making your way back up. Once you get down there, you meet the local townsfolk and help them with deliveries. Along the way you learn more about individual characters and the challenges they face both internal and external. There's also a strong anti-capitalism message that I really jived with.
I actually played this game a while back during a Nextfest stream, and I was so excited to get my hands on a copy of the final game now that it's released.
Mika and the Witch's Mountain is a very safe game. There's no health bar, all deliveries can be re-tried, and very few of the deliveries are time-sensitive. It feels like a great introductory game for a lot of mechanics that kids would run into in other games later in life. What gets me the most though is just how ... pleasant the whole game. The only negative interactions are with those hoarding wealth (the capitalists, if you will) and the game wears its opinions on its sleeve in this regard.
Honestly: really enjoyable experience and I fully plan on finishing this game in my own time.
