Let's Try: Dive the Deep
Disclosure: I received a free review copy (though it's just a demo build) of this product from https://www.keymailer.co/

Dive into the sea. Fight everything in it. Grow stronger. Repeat. Or die. That's more or less the gist of Dive the Deep, a little indie rogue game where everything in the ocean is mean and wants to hurt you. If you enjoy games like spelunky and risk of rain: there's some definite vibe and mechanical overlap with Dive the Deep that I feel makes it worth your observation. It's not perfect by any means, but it has a lot of potential.
This is an early build of the game, so bumps and bruises are expected. My biggest hang-ups with the game are a matter of balance and explanation: The game starts hard and the difficulty is wall-shaped in direction. The only way for me to survive long enough to actually experience the combat mechanics without panicking was to cheese all combat from the safety of the merchant bubble. Second to that: all the items you pick up have an explanation panel that you have to be a champion speed-reader to grasp before it goes away. I could also complain about the boss difficulty, but truly I can't tell if that was a balance issue or a skill issue.
Overall I enjoyed the game, punishing though it was! I look forward to seeing a more fleshed-out version that includes some of the mechanics that were hinted at.
