Sacrificing a few lives so we can get some upgraded gear just means that we can save more lives later. Unless those people also have valuable stuff near a window. I do unfortunately have to save a few people to pass the level, but it's usually only about 60% of the occupants. So I prioritize the easiest people, then I go about looting whatever I can find from the house. I can either save their stuff or put it in my car for pure profit.
