Level 4 (2nd Quest) Complete Walkthrough Method #2 - The Legend of Zelda 2nd Quest 100% Walkthrough
0This video shows how to beat Level 4 in the Second Quest as well as how to get everything in this Level (Well, almost everything. Technically I skip over a Small Key, but I'll talk more about that below). To see how to beat this Level while only getting the necessities, there is a video linked below that shows how. As with all dungeons in this game it's not a bad idea to have a potion on hand. Furthermore, if you have not already done so, I recommend that you get the White Sword & the Blue Ring. You can find videos showing the locations to these upgrades as well as the locations of all Bomb & Potion Shops linked down below.
Make sure you have 150 Rupees & full bombs when you start this Level. The method I use to beat this level doesn't require having any prior Small Keys. Consequently, this means some backtracking and more Darknut fighting. If you have a spare Small Key (or are willing to buy one) then I suggest using the "1 Prior Small Key" video linked below as it makes this Level a bit easier.
This level introduces us to a new character. He holds your progress hostage until you either pay him 50 Rupees or permanently sacrifice 1 heart of health. DO NOT chose the heart. There's no need to. Just pay him the money and be done with it. This won't be the last time you see this character during the Second Quest.
This is the only Level in the entire game where there is something hidden beyond the Triforce room (namely the Raft). Keep this in mind when you enter the room.
Finally, there is 1 Small Key that can only be gotten with the Stepladder from Level 6. As I do not have the Stepladder yet, I do not get this key. Getting this Small Key is pretty straightforward once you get the Stepladder, just kill all of the Keese in the room at (6:35) then walk across the lava to get the key. For completion purposes you can see how to get it in the video linked down below.
Important things in this Level:
Compass (1:12): Near the start of the Level in the room to the left of the first Digdogger is a room with some Red & Blue Darknuts as well as some Pols Voice. Kill them all to get the Compass.
Book of Magic (1:57): In the room after the Aquamentus, kill all of the enemies. Push the left most middle block to reveal & staircase that leads to the Book.
Bomb Upgrade (4:39):In the room with the several Blue Darknuts go right 1 screen to find a room with several Red Darknuts. Go right 1 more screen through the secret wall you can pass through & you'll find a room with an Old Man who sells you a Bomb capacity upgrade for 100 rupees. He will increase your Bomb capacity by 4.
Map (5:57): When you reach the room where you can go in multiple directions with the movable block in the center, bomb a hole through the right wall & go through. Kill the lone Dodongo & go up. Kill all of the Blue Darknuts in this next room to get the Map.
Boss - Digdogger (0:50 & 9:15): So the way I kill this enemy is by dropping a Bomb on top of it, quickly playing the whistle, & then immediately dropping another bomb. If the 2 bombs are near enough to the little Digdoggers then it will kill them all otherwise you can bomb or slash the remaining ones. Having said that, there is a much easier way to kill this enemy. Simply play the Whistle, kill one of the little Digdoggers, then leave the room. When you return Digdogger will be defeated.
Raft (9:35): When you enter the Triforce room, instead of grabbing the Triforce piece go up through the top wall to find there is more to the Level. Keep going up until you reach the room with the Red & Blue Darknuts and the Pols Voice. Kill them all then push one of the left blocks to reveal a staircase that leads to the Raft.
