Level 5 Complete Walkthrough (First Quest) - The Legend of Zelda First Quest 100% Walkthrough
35This video shows how to complete the 5th dungeon of the First Quest. That means going into every single room & getting everything this dungeon has to offer; no matter how pointless it may be. If you only want to see what is necessary to beat the level & get the important items then watch the video linked down below.
As with all dungeons in this game it's not a bad idea to have a potion on hand. Furthermore, if you have not already done so, I recommend that you upgrade your sword & tunic as I have. You can find videos showing the locations to these upgrades as well as the locations of all Bomb & Potion Shops linked down below.
Goodies in this dungeon:
Map (1:02): From the entrance room go up 3 screens to find the map in a dark room.
Bomb Upgrade (2:22): From the entrance room go up once then use bombs to go left until you reach the room with several blue Darknuts. Kill them all and move the leftmost block to take the stairs. When you resurface go through the bottom locked door. In the next room use a bomb to blow a hole in the right wall. Enter the hole & you'll find an Old Man who is selling a Bomb Upgrade for 100 Rupees. Getting the upgrade will increase your maximum bomb carrying capacity by 4.
Recorder/Whistle (2:45): Take the same path as to get the bomb upgrade, but instead of going through the locked door at the bottom go through the locked door on the left. Kill all of the Darknuts, push the block, & go down the stairs to get the Recorder. The Recorder has quite a number of uses: It is necessary to kill this dungeon's boss, it immediately cures jinxes put on you by Bubbles, &, when used outside, will transport you to already completed dungeons.
Compass (5:11): From the entrance room go up 2 screens, right 1 screen, & up 3 more screens. You'll should be in a dark room with 3 Darknuts. Kill them to get the compass.
Boss Digdogger (6:37): When you first meet him, Digdogger is invincible. To remove his invincibility you must first play the Recorder. Do that & he'll turn into a smaller (& faster) version of his previous self. Now that he is vulnerable you can easily kill him in 2 hits with the Magical Sword (4 with the White & 8 with the Wooden Sword).
