Life of The Foo Bear | That JUST Happened
Life of The Foo Bear | That JUST Happened
I was doing SO GOOD with the timing on these... and now here we are almost a month late on this one. This episode is from 7/2.
Sinsaenum - Last Goodbye • Sinsaenum - Last Goodbye (Official Video) ... interesting inflections of Slipknot here and there, but overall a great combination of radio metal and death. That Andre kid on the drums really drives this song!
Foo Fighters - Today’s Song • Foo Fighters - Today's Song Feels pretty introspective. Solid slow radio hit. Kinda seems like they will try to say this is a response to current events. Which it might be, but just feels like they are getting back into the groove, in a great way.
I Don’t Wanna Hear it • Foo Fighters - I Don't Wanna Hear It (Mino... Minor Threat Cover… what more can be said?
Shadow of Intent - Imperium Delirium • SHADOW OF INTENT - Imperium Delirium (Offi... I love that a nerdy band like this can scratch out their own place in the landscape of modern music. This is so good. Longer than expected, and the vocals are becoming more varied, in all the right ways.
Sanguisugabogg - Abhorrent Contraception • SANGUISUGABOGG - Abhorrent Contraception (... Lyrics seem a bit more in the trad-death metal vein, more than expected from the band that is being hailed as the second coming in the genre. As far as the musical performance, the dynamics are killer as usual. The tempo changes are so refreshing. But the mix leaves something to be desired. Almost the St Anger of death metal.
Lord of the Lost - Ghosts feat Tina Guo • LORD OF THE LOST X TINA GUO - Ghosts (Offi... This is the gothy industrial terror I fell in love with! God I love these guys.
Igorr - Infestis • IGORRR - INFESTIS Groovy little death metal track. Honestly solid through and through.
The Life of Chuck (short story) - The overall story feels very stilted and jarring. The disjointed nature of it detracts from what seems to be a feel good message of living life in spite of the curveballs. The intro seems to serve almost no purpose, aside from a passing reference in the second act with the Walt Whitman poem.
The Life of Chuck (movie) - Similar issues to the story, because they are basically the same. The movie leaves out a bit about Chuck playing in a band as a teen, though it does at least acknowledge it. This though accomplishes what the story couldn’t to the respect of the intro feeling almost completely alien to the rest of the story, by REALLY leaning into a fairly literal interpretation of the Walt Whitman poem.
It seems that a better story motivator, to me, would have been to keep the identity of the man in the hospital bed a mystery, just showing his scar, and starting with Act 1. If you MUST tell the story out of sequence, then get Act 3 next and tell the Eldritch terror story in the middle with MORE of the connecting fibers. Then end with act 2 and showing Chuck getting the scar.
The Bear - Season 4
Something felt off for a good chunk of this season. Then the reveal at the end confirmed it. Many will see this as the show just being “Woke.” I am still struggling with it myself, but not because it feels woke. It feels off. Carmine Berzato lives and breathes food, in my 20+ years in the industry I have seen chefs step back, but not step away.
