Lightening Force: Quest for the Darkstar - Full Gameplay - Sega Genesis / Mega Drive
A full game let's play of Lightening Force: Quest for the Darkstar, also known as Thunderforce 4, for the Sega Mega Drive / Sega Genesis, with unedited gameplay and commentary.
Welcome to Lightening Force, or Lightning Force? Perhaps Thunder Force? Whatever you call it, welcome to it! On the surface this is your run-of-the-mill shoot 'em up, but on closer inspection it's actually a masterful piece of art.
Now don't get me wrong, it's by no means perfect, and it's infuriatingly unfair at times, but as far as shoot 'em up's go this game is a fine example. There's a mountain of fun, graphically pleasing, spectacular bosses to mow down, as well as a wide variety in stages to keep you engaged.
Furthermore the game boasts an interest, albeit simple, weapon swap system that keeps gameplay incredibly dynamic. Coupled with a genuinely high difficulty causes Lightening Force to become a game that forces multiple playthroughs to earn its completion, but you'll enjoy every attempt you make.
Apart from the slowdown when there's too much action on screen, I don't really have many complaints to make here. This was just a fun journey through a good old fashioned retro side scroller. Come join me as we explode an immeasurable number of enemy craft single handedly!

On this channel I make a variety of gaming content. Sometimes we're reviewing up and coming indie games, sometimes we're revisiting retro classics for a Let's Play. The only consistent factor is that it's all gaming, and it's all accompanied by sarcastic commentary. If that's your thing then I have links:

I always try to be as fair and objective as possible when making my review videos, giving some honest feedback and a bit of criticsm here and there. Remember that games these days are always subject to change so many of the things mentioned here may no longer be true depending on how old this video is.
Please leave a comment if you have any questions about this video, or suggestions for future videos. I'm always open to hearing what you guys have to say.
