Sonic's VERY Distant Cousin - Ristar - Full Gameplay - Sega Genesis / Mega Drive
A full game playthrough of Ristar for the Sega Mega Drive / Genesis, with unedited gameplay and commentary.
Welcome to Ristar, a bi-product of the Sonic team that takes a slightly different direction. Featuring a sentient star with both hands and feet, Ristar is a bright and colourful game from Sega's heyday.
Ristar is a platformer boasting one very solid gimmick: grabby hands. Ristar holds onto everything and finds a myriad of uses of his extendable limbs, stretching from climbing, swinging, building moment, charging up skull shattering headbutts and, yes, even withstanding gravitational forces from black holes. This man knows how to grab things.
Sprite work is excellent here, and in no better place is that seen than the bosses. They're large and whimsical, packed full of character and little extra details that make you smile. Level design is pretty decent too, with good variety and secrets galore throughout the many different stages.
Criminally few people are aware of Ristar, so let's change that shall we?

On this channel I make a variety of gaming content. Sometimes we're reviewing up and coming indie games, sometimes we're revisiting retro classics for a Let's Play. The only consistent factor is that it's all gaming, and it's all accompanied by sarcastic commentary. If that's your thing then I have links:

Hopefully you'll join me for those, and I shall see you then.
I always try to be as fair and objective as possible when making my review videos, giving some honest feedback and a bit of criticsm here and there. Remember that games these days are always subject to change so many of the things mentioned here may no longer be true depending on how old this video is.
Please leave a comment if you have any questions about this video, or suggestions for future videos. I'm always open to hearing what you guys have to say.
Thanks again for watching and please, enjoy.
