FFXIII Lightning Returns Tutorial on Backstepping. This allows you to avoid some enemy attacks if done correctly! I'm not sure how useful it would be in the full game but it's something interesting to take note of!

To Perform:
Initiate the attack for moves like "Quick Freeze" "Thunder" until you see Lightning backstep, Then you want to hit Guard immediately, which cancels the magic attack and doesn't waste ATB. It only takes up 2 ATB bars for Guarding. Practice the timing to ensure you move the greatest amount of distance.
