Ganon and his minions have seized the peaceful island of Koridai and imprisoned Zelda. Only Link can defeat Ganon. To do so, he must conquer the hideous faces of evil... each more diabolic than the one before. Against all odds, Zelda must be freed and Koridai returned to harmony.
Dopply explains that he developed the project “over the course of 4 years” using GameMaker to teach himself game development. He also says that it was intended as an in-joke between friends.
In a GoogleDoc FAQ, Dopply explains the remasters aren’t straight rips of the originals. In fact, they are complete recreations built from the ground-up. This means that enemy spawns, movement speed, and slight collision differences are different from their original versions.
Link: The Faces of Evil and Zelda: The Wand of Gamelon are action-adventure games developed by Animation Magic and published by Philips Interactive Media for the CD-i in 1993. They were released on the same day, were developed simultaneously, and look and play similarly because they use the same graphic engine.
