This is my speedrun of The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening for the Nintendo Switch performed live at Power Up With Pride to raise money for the Trevor Project. The event took place on June 12-14 where LBGT and non-LGBT community members have raised $11733 to the Trevor Project.
The pressure of this run was really on for me because this run was the very last run on the schedule, which meant that I needed to find a way to close marathon strongly. On top of that, there was a lot of excitement from the stream chat waiting to see what this run is like. While I did make a lot of minor mistakes throughout the run, I'm satisfied that I pulled off most of the hard stuff. This run also ended up being a new Personal Best for me, so you can imagine that I was really happy with how this run turned out for me.
The Trevor Project is a non-profit organization found in 1998 that provides services and counseling to the LBGTQ+ community. The goal of this organization is to help provide suicide prevention services to the LGBTQ young people who are under 25, as well as guidance and resources to parents and educators to provide a safe, accepting and inclusive environment to all people in schools and homes. This marathon has been supporting the Trevor Project since two years, started from PUWP 2018.
Power Up With Pride is a charity marathon that was created by the LGBTQ+ speedrunning community. It showcases runners of LGBT and non-LGBT runners to perform runs in a comfortable and exciting environment online. This event runs twice a year during the Winter and Summer and has been around since 2014. I have ran New Super Luigi U in PUWP 2018 and Link's Awakening DX in Winter Pride 2018 and this is my third event participating.
