Elden Ring is an epic fantasy action-RPG developed by FromSoftware and published by Bandai Namco Entertainment. It invites players to explore the Lands Between, a vast and breathtaking world filled with grassy plains, suffocating swamps, spiraling mountains, and foreboding castles. The game is known for its seamless world exploration on foot or horseback, alone or online with others.
The narrative of Elden Ring is set in a world ruled by Queen Marika the Eternal, where the Elden Ring, the source of the Erdtree, has been shattered. This event, known as The Shattering, led to a war among Marikaβs demigod offspring who claimed the shards of the Elden Ring. Players take on the role of the Tarnished, exiled individuals who are called back to the Lands Between to collect the Great Runes, restore the Elden Ring, and become the Elden Lord.
The gameplay is genre-defining, allowing players to create their characters and define their playstyle with a wide variety of weapons, magical abilities, and skills found throughout the world. Combat can be approached head-on, stealthily, or with the help of allies, offering players freedom in how they tackle the challenges ahead.
The new DLC, Shadow of the Erdtree, is set to expand this universe further. Guided by Empyrean Miquella, players will venture into the Land of Shadow, a place obscured by the Erdtree, to uncover dark secrets and face new threats. This expansion adds new weapons, equipment, skills, magic, and enemies, along with intricate dungeons and boss encounters, deepening the RPG elements and the lore of the Elden Ring world. The Shadow of the Erdtree DLC is anticipated to be a large-scale addition to the game, promising hours of new content and adventures.
