26Good day mates and adventurers! I would argue that vetting players to make sure they won't cause problems is a good practice. However, I could also argue that the practice of gatekeeping can keep "problem players" away by instead encouraging the kind of problem behaviour that we frequently see discussed everywhere.
In some cases, such gatekeeping can result in such famous, misguided one-liners as "The job of DMs is to railroad, whilst players must break that railroad by any and all means." Just like in the story featured in this video.
