First off this is better than both HAWX 2, on par with HAWX, and not as great as Ace Combat 6. The story is passable and predictable, and not as outlandish as its predecessors which for me loses some of its charm. The missions are peppered with bombing and helicopter levels that are ok. Missions feel way too scripted and get very annoying toward the end of the game. The planes still fly well and are fun to fly. The new dog fight mode is a blast and is cool because it'll take you into set pieces and low altitude. I just hate how its mandatory to use it to take down some enemies. Your wingmen are also of no use which is a big letdown. Overall an ok game.

This game stick more to the old Ace design when it comes to menus, missions and overall look. You can buy new planes, upgrades, and parts which adds a nice little bit of customization. The 3D effects are cool for the game but the overall look is hindered by the limitations of the handheld, just like the controls. I found the music to be surprisingly good. The story is super barebones but not horrible.
