Loki Episode 5 Theory: Mobius Is Alive In His Life Before The TVA After Being Pruned
6So, I know you're all panicking about Mobius being dead after being pruned, but after the Loki post credit scene when Loki wakes up with his other variants in a New York city apocalypse after he himself was pruned, well we know he didn't die, he was instead transported.
Well, then the same thing happened to Mobius, but instead of Mobius being transported to a place with the other pruned TVA variants, like hunter c 20, what if that pruning returned Mobius back to his life and point in the timestream? And that’s my theory for you today.
Let me explain: In episode 4, we know that Renslayer and Mobius shared a scene in the episode where she boasted on and on about how strong and deep Mobius and Renslayer's friendship goes, so what if when Mobius told Renslayer that if he could anywhere in and throughout time that he'd go back to his life before the TVA, then that's exactly what Renslayer gave him; his life back because their friends and she does truly want the best for him.
Renslayer could've easily not pruned him then and there, and took him down to the timekeepers with Loki to answer for what he’s done, for aiding a Loki variant. But, she pruned him then and there because she wants to protect him, like she said earlier in the episode that she’s always been doing, she’s always wanted to protect him. It wouldn’t be protecting him if she sends him to a place full of TVA agents; prisoners in time. Whether or not that was a stone cold lie, we still have yet to find out.
Now, there is a featurette of Owen Wilson wearing a cowboy outfit on the set of Loki. You could tell me that this means this is just a variant of Mobius that Mobius finds when he wakes up in a similar way to Loki waking up to his other variants; but, I’d counter you saying that this is what Mobius looks like in his life before the TVA. He’s not an actual cowboy, because cowboys frankly never had windbreaker vests, and clean white sweatshirts; so, that puts this version of Mobius in a modern time where he could’ve rode jet skis before the TVA.
So, then it begs the question, if Mobius went back to his life before the TVA, riding jet skis, how will he be introduced back into the show? Because you don’t open the opportunity for a character to still be alive and not explore that much. For me, I think there are a few directions for Marvel to go on this one:
One: Mobius will be reintroduced into the show at the end of the show; meaning in episode 5, we won’t see what happened to him. Instead, after Loki overthrows the TVA with his army of Lokis or whatever the case, Loki goes to see Mobius at the end of episode 6. And in a Men In Black 3 sort of plotline, once Mobius left the TVA, he now has no recollection of ever being a part of the bureaucratic authority. He’s simply back in the spot where the real timekeepers picked him up, like he never left at all. With his lack of memory of what happened, Loki leaves Mobius, his friend, to live the rest of his life. We’ll then learn that Mobius’ name isn’t really Mobius, maybe Mobius is the name the Timekeepers gave him or more likely Mobius will be his last name and his first name will be like John or Tom or something.
Another direction Marvel could take it, is that Mobius, when he is returned back to his life, he recollects his time and memories in the TVA. But, instead of trying to get back, Mobius realizes that Renslayer gave her friend exactly what he asked for, so what more could he want? So, in the same tense, Mobius at the end of episode 6, when Loki overthrows the TVA, Loki approaches Mobius about coming with him back to the TVA, but Mobius doesn’t want to leave and Loki has to learn to accept that and to let go.
