Lord of the Click (Xbox Series X) (Xclusive Indie Playthrough - Part 1) Kingdom Under Attack
My next Indie playthrough series will feature the game Lord of the Click! This game released on the Xbox One and Xbox Series family of consoles on October 23rd, 2020. It was developed by HugePixel & published by Victory Road.
In this video, I complete the tutorial & then defeat the Undead & the Orc armies.
Lord of the Click is most certainly not a game that you would expect to be released on a console. It's a strategy game that initially looks and feels sort of familiar to a tower defense game, however, instead of building towers you just higher various different units while also upgrading them. The whole concept of the game revolves around two castles (yours and the enemy's) and the player hiring soldiers to push back the enemy to their side of the map until they're completely wiped out and destroyed. It's essentially a game of tug-of-war, where initially the screen is sort of split in half and the more you push back the enemy the more of the screen you control. Story-wise, the game plays around the idea that various kinds of armies have taken over some of the kingdom's territories and it's up to you to defeat them and reclaim the captured land.
With regards to the gameplay and controls: the game asks the player to use the various buttons on the controller to perform various actions (the Right Bumper is used to summon soldiers, the A button is used to purchase various upgrades, the B button is used to pick up coins that are dropped by the defeated enemies and the Left Trigger is used to shoot down flying enemies - some other buttons are used later on in the game for other actions such as making bread, which allows you to hire stronger soldiers). It definitely feels like the type of game that you would expect to exist on a PC or phone/tablet due to the nature of the gameplay and the gameplay elements themselves. I would most certainly recommend to take a break after every level because this game will most likely take a toll on your fingers...
As far as the achievements are concerned: the game includes a total of 21 achievements which add up to 1000 GS and this game is actually fairly easy to 100% as all you have to do is beat the game (which can take around an hour or two). All of the achievements are obtainable by just playing through the whole game and the hardest part about this completion is how much you'll have to click all of the various buttons (it can really tire you out).
