Transcript:

In high school, Erez Goren began developing his own games for the Atari 2600. After college and the crash of the video game industry in 1985, he co-founded Radiant Systems and BlueCube Software, which gained enough financial success to support the founding Hi-Rez Studios with Todd Harris in 2005.

Hi-Rez began developing competitive online action games including Global Agenda and Tribes: Ascend. In December of 2010, a small team started prototyping a new PvP game mode for Global Agenda before realizing it could be its own game. After only a month in production, the decision was made to switch the theme from sci-fi Global Agenda to Mythology and ancient gods & goddesses.

Smite was first playable in public at PAX Prime 2011 with a grand total of nine playable gods and an NPC kraken to fight in the middle of the jungle, but this was only the beginning. After nearly two years in Beta, Hi-Rez Studios officially released free-to-play SMITE in March 2014 with a $200,000 e-sports tournament watched online by 400,000 people. Finally the glorious deities of various pantheons were matched on the battleground of the gods. Have Fun!
