341The Star League rested a lot of hopes and future plans on the Marauder prior to the Amaris Civil war and subsequent destruction that it brought with it. Envisioned as a platform for all future battlemech designs the Maruader is a solid and dependable combat platform with a clear emphasis on battlefield control.
Weighing in at 75 tons the Marauder formed the key part of many assault groups alongside the Warhammer and Rifleman. Being that the unit was equipped with some of the most advanced tech available to the SLDF it was often used in a command role. It's main punch is from it's dual PPC's which can quickly melt down smaller opponents and do considerable damage to larger would be attackers. For more short range engagements it could rely on a single AC/5 and 2 medium lasers to down attackers.
Despite lacking any hands the Marauder is fully capable of attacking in close quarters combat as the PPC and medium lasers are safely protected within the arms mounting points, meaning even a point blank melee approach with the Marauder is a dicey proposition at best.
