The most recent LR Vegito Blue reimagined as Classic Dokkan Super Attacks!

OSTs used:
- TUR TEQ Vegito Blue Dokkan Battle OST
- LR TEQ Vegito Blue Active Skill Dokkan Battle OST

Animation Direction:
With LR Vegito’s Super Attack animations, I had the idea to attempt to recreate them using only sprites like assets! Well, it’s more on the fact that Dokkan updates the sprites to a more modern look, so it is more on imaging if they made their classic animations using the updated sprites.

I looked through most of the older Super Attacks that Vegito has done in Dokkan, and used them in this animation to create a “sprite-like” Super Attacks that adapts the current VB animations. I was actually quite surprised at how well the sprites worked together to adapt the new Vegito’s new SAs, after applying recoloring to a few. I also made sure to use mostly the older effects in the animation to match the aesthetic as well. However, I kept the backgrounds the same to the original SAs to keep the modern feel to the animation. This animation makes full usage of blending layer modes to capture lighting and blending effects together. I also added some filters like drop shadow, to make the sprites feel more modern.

This animation was more like a playground for the effects, so there was more emphasis on how the effects were animated. As such, it was working with easing techniques and keyframe positioning. For example, the blue ki spheres were squished and stretched for each key frame to show fluid motion while tweening occurs in-between each key frame. I also made adjustments in-between those key frames to assure it did not move too linear.

Animating the onomatopoeia was something I quickly adjusted too, which is a necessary thing to include for the Dokkan feel. So I made sure to include and animate them close to how they were in the original SAs.

I made sure to not use the Camera function to imitate how Dokkan would animate their SAs, which would be moving the background and characters. Since I had good reference for the camera movement in the original SAs, it was easier to know and I think I got a decent grasp of it.

In editing, I did have to adjust timing and speed for some scenes to fit the sound effects. I also duplicated and flipped the slicing scene so that it demonstrated Vegito using both swords instead of just one sword.

Music Direction:
Originally, I was going to use the same OST that was used for the preview for Vegito’s animation. But the idea to blend an older OST with a new OST for Vegito came to mind, in consideration of adapting new Dokkan Originals using old Dokkan Originals.

This is where I came to the decision of using the TUR TEQ Vegito Blue OST and combining it with the LR TEQ Vegito Blue Active Skill.

I used the TUR OST to enhance the energy build up of the first SA, and LR Active Skill OST to fit the elegance and confidence of the second SA.

KO Direction:
For the KO screen, I simply did not add the KO effect to show more the visual instead of hiding it behind the KO. I made the KO screen in mind of LR STR Gogeta’s KO screen. I made the night sky with the stars shining bright to create a visual of Vegito creating a light in the darkness, or in this case, acting as the sword of hope.

That’s all I have to say, I hope you enjoy!
