On version 8.29 of the Link to the Past Randomizer, a new mode called Retro, which aims to makes the game play more like The Legend of Zelda 1. This means the following:

- Keys can be used in any dungeon of the game
- Bow requires you to buy the arrow pickup at stores, any shot you do afterwards cost 10 rupees (silver arrows cost 50)
- Random caves and houses can have the "pick any you want" room where you choose between a full heart or a potion refill
- One random cave/house will have an old man with a sword upgrade. "It's dangerous to go alone! Take this."

And now for the problems with Retro mode. It removes 10 whole keys from the item pool, which will likely require you to buy keys at the store to proceed. Dungeons are not self-contained and may (will) require external keys to beat. Also, having a sword in a cave will diminish the chances of you finding a sword when you don't know how the mode works.

I decided to give the mode 3 tries in order to see if it was worth it. This is the last attempt, so that means it'll be a good run right?
