Hey what’s up everyone Gannon back here with some more One Piece content for y’all, today I wanted to talk about something that I think everyone who reads and watches One Piece has thought about at one point or another and that’s basically visualizing what Luffy’s Rubber Rubber fruit awakening would actually look like and how it would function; since we very first heard of devil fruit awakenings in One Piece we’ve kinda been questioning the vague definitions for what it actually is, the thing is however- that the definition provided to us has been from Paramecia type users who produce a substance- for example Doflamingo and Katakuri who produce strings and mochi from their fruits, as well as Douglass Bullets non canon awakening in Stampede, however it is important to note that Douglass Bullet’s awakening simply allowed him to restructure objects and materials from a much greater range rather than his devil fruit simply “starting to affect things other than the user”- because In definition, Bullets Gashi Gashi no mi already does that. And there are also logia users who also produce a substance and can lead to affecting entire islands and giant landscapes with their individual elements. Doflamingo's definition has kinda been plaguing us ever since it left his brilliant gaping maw- When a devil fruit is awakened it will start to affect not only the user, but it’s surroundings as well; however we know this can’t be true with all devil fruits as there are obviously a bunch of fruits that can’t be held to these standards like Kinemon’s clothes producing fruit or Tama’s dumpling fruit or even Big mom’s Soul Soul fruit, among many others. And then not to mention it’s also stipulated that Zoan Fruit users have a version of awakening that turns them into mindless powerful and very durable beast creatures like the Zoans seen at impel down and most probably Chopper’s Monster point. I actually made a little theory video with some explanations for how Individual devil fruit types are awakened it was one of the first videos on my channel and while some aspects of the theory may be a little bit of a stretch I still think the video holds up today so If you would like to check that out and see an incredibly outdated video from me I’ll link it here. With all that being said, what’s Luffy’s awakening going to look like? How much more Powerful will it make him? And when is going to be an ample time for Luffy to utilize his awakened devil fruit powers in the One Piece Story? I’m going to attempt to answer all these questions and more to the best of my ability so let’s get into it.
