Luke's Holdens and Toys Collection Episode 1
In this episode of Luke's Holdens and Toys Collection we are going to check out Luke's 1979 HZ Kingwood SL and his HQ Monaro LS.
So lets lick off with the 1979 HZ Kingswood SL that Luke purchased about 14 years ago now. When he purchased the Kingswood it was a standard 4.2Lt 253 V8 engine with standard features and stand wheels with those lovely chrome hubcaps that Holden had on these 1979 Sedans. The vehicle was purchased from a friend of Luke's Mother and it had been well maintained. The seller had a few tears shed that day. Luke's father, said keep it original as the engineers know what they were doing. But Luke had other plans.
He kept the 4.2lt 253 Engine, however, add a solid cam, Gilmore Belt, add all the usual dress up items, such as chrome valve covers, air cleaner, alternator and more. I had a performance stereo system as well, but he prefers the sound of the engine as most of do.
Luke has future plans for the HZ Kingswood, however, he torn between doing the HZ or doing the HQ Monaro LS Coupe. One will be heavily modified and the other will stay as is. I would keep the HQ Monaro LS as original as possible, however, tell us your opinion?
Now to check out the HQ Monaro LS that Luke purchased about a year or so ago for a steal. This Monaro has only done 80,000kms and he is not sure if its the original V8 308 engine or not. However, it all original everywhere beside the wheels. Luke is going to reach out to the Holden Historical Services to find out more about the vehicle before he starts the restoring process. Not there is much to do on this vehicle at all, as you see in the video.
Stay tuned for Episode 2 of Luke's Holdens and Toys Collections to find out more about the HQ Monaro LS Coupe.
