Would you Modify this HQ Monaro Coupe - Luke's Holdens & Toys Part 2
20Hi Everyone, let's get stuck into Part 2 of Luke's Holden's and Toys Collections. We were chatting about his HQ Holden Monaro LS Coupe when we finished in Part 1, so we will continue from there.
This HQ Monaro LS Coupe came out with a Factory 5lt 308 V8 Engine with 4 speed manual M21 Transmission. Luke is not 100% sure if this is the original engine as of yet, so he has to get more details as we mentioned before. At present the previous owner has add a MSD Electronic Ignition, Monster Gearbox, Mild Cam and Extractors. The good thing is that Luke has all the original parts still.
The Monaro has only done 80,000kms from leaving the factory, which is impressive for the age of the car and that fact these are awesome cars to cruise around in. As mentioned, he is seeking information from the Holden Historical Services before it restores the vehicle.
We chatted to Luke about C4C Rego could assist he with the cost of having two vehicles on the road and giving him more money to add into Insurance or parts. Under the C4C Rego you just have to join a Car Club, submit the documents through them and then you get 90 days to cruise in the Monaro for each year. 60 days for club events and 30 days for private usage. C4C Rego can also save you up to $800 per year on rego as well.
The paint of this HQ Monaro Coupe is in great shape considering its been sitting around since 1990 doing nothing, especially in the engine bay, where you definitely notice it on the radiator shroud and wheel hubs. It would not take much to restore this Monaro at all.
The Interior on the HQ is immaculate from the Dash to the seats and the door trims as they are in perfect condition. The only thing that lets the interior down is where they cut a hole in the floor pan for the Monster Gearbox and this was a rough job, however, it can be replated and restored. Luke has a few items that he wants to restore, like the Seat Belts, however, with repo parts suppliers like Rare Spares, Seat Belt Solutions, Classic Olden Australia and others that will not be hard to do.
What's in the Boot
Well Luke discover a massive amounts of spare parts for the HQ Monaro LS Coupe boot from the previous owner, which is fantastic for him and if does not need the parts, it gives some play money for other parts.
Other Toys
Luke has plenty of other toys from his Yamaha R1 Anniversary Motorbike to his awesome collection of Pinball Machines and his Jordan Basketball Shoe collection as well. As he states, "Who dies with the most toys wins".
