Built on the 5.15.19 Linux kernel, the system comes with new tools that can be useful for web developers and programmers. By the way, it is stated that it is important to review the Mabox Linux Manual . The system, which is made available with the Openbox window manager, comes preloaded with Conky. Tint2 is used as the default panel. Inspired by CrunchBang, the system uses BunsenLabs utilities, and some XFCE and LXDE components are also used. Mabox Linux; it is using jgmenu for main menu, side panels, output dialog and screenshot tool.Mabox Linux 22.02You can examine the pkgs.txt file to get an idea about it .
Mabox Linux is a derivative of Manjaro with a preconfigured Openbox window manager. Mabox Linux 22.02 »Herbolth« has just been released. The distribution is inspired by CrunchBang Linux and uses tools from BunsenLabs in addition to its own tools .
Free or proprietary drivers
The distribution, which has been published for about a year, is not one of the Manjaro community editions that offer various window managers, including Openbox, but is being developed independently. Right from the start, it allows you to choose whether to boot with free or proprietary drivers and then adopts this choice in the installer, which is based on the Calamares framework.
Delayed rolling release
Mabox Linux 21.02 ships with Linux 5.10.15 as the kernel. Otherwise, the distribution follows Manjaro's somewhat delayed rolling release principle. Additional kernels can be installed via the welcome screen, the selection ranges from the older LTS kernels 4.4 through 4.9, 4.14, 4.19, 5.4 to the as yet unreleased 5.11.rc7. The Manjaro Application Utility also offers popular applications to install on Mabox.
Also for older hardware
The system makes do with less than 300 MB of RAM when idling. The pre-configuration of Openbox with Conky, Tint2 with attached side panel makes a well thought-out impression, as does the package selection. PCmanFM is used as the file manager, Firefox browses the Internet and Deadbeef provides the sound. Additional packages are installed with Pamac, alternatively Pacman waits for commands in the terminal.
The Mabox Control Center is the place program that gathers all the available tools for configuring the look and feel of Mabox in one place. If you know Manjaro, you can use it immediately, but even if you don't, you quickly get used to Openbox. Even older computers become young again here. So it doesn't always need a full-fledged desktop environment. The image available for x86_64 can be downloaded from the project site or from SourceForge .
