With its blend of grisly comedy and grotesque chills, Spider Baby has risen in stature since its 1968 release and undergone a film restoration by the Academy Film Archive. In September of 2012, writer-director Jack Hill took part in a panel after the film’s world premiere restoration screening at the Academy’s Linwood Dunn Theater. Joined on stage by film preservationist Mark Toscano and actors Quinn Redeker and Beverly Washburn, Hill discusses casting choices and how the film eventually made it to the big screen.
