Mafia 3 is set in the city of New Bordeaux around the year 1968. You play as Lincoln Clay a Vietnam Veteran who returns after the war to his Step Brother Ellis and Sammy the man that looked after Lincoln when he was orphaned as a child. Lincoln has had a difficult life and returns to New Bordeaux to start over. After a successful Heist in which Lincoln and the Black Mop ( led by Sammy Robinson) rob the federal reserve bank, Sal Marcano leader of the Italian Mop arrives over at Sammys place together Richie, and Giorgi Marcano. Giorgi shoots Lincoln in the head for refusing the join the Italian Mop while Richie Doucet stabs to death Lincoln's half brother Ellis. Lincoln shot in the head witnesses the the destruction of the Black Mop but manages to survive the attempt on his life. He recovers at Father James Church and sets out for a deadly mission of revenge and pledges to start his own criminal organistion. To do this he must wipe out the Black Mop step by step until he gets close enough to take out Giorgi and Sal Marcano.
