[Mage] Daggerfall Unity [24] | Soul of a Lich | Castle Sentinel | Truth about the Totem
Welcome back to The Elder Scrolls II: Daggerfall, a role-playing game originally made by Bethesda for the MS Dos. For this playthrough, we are using the Unity remake of the game and a lot of mods to enhance the experience. The game involves navigating the sensitive political landscape of the Illiac Bay, a region of Tamriel on the fictional planet of Nirn comprising of the countries within the bay as well as the various fragmented powers surrounding it on both High Rock and Hammerfell. We have been sent to the place on a mission by our Emperor Uriel Septim VII to investigate two curious instances, the shade of King Lysandus that roams the streets of Daggerfall at night and a letter that he sent to the Queen of Daggerfall a few years ago that never reached her. Despite being a dungeon crawler at heart, Daggerfall places a lot of emphasis upon the player's individual exploration as choosing one among the various political factions in the region as they navigate the complex mess that is the Illiac Bay. In this playthrough, we will be playing as a Spellcaster and will shift our focus towards the Mages' Guild and the Order of Arkay.
Following the unconventional means that The King of Worms used to summon Strangeblood, he only thought it courteous to pay him a visit, if only to refuse him in person.
But once Strangeblood make his way to The King of Worm's court, he soon learned that what is being asked of him is spine-chillingly heinous but at the same time, the information promised to him is something that cannot be obtained elsewhere.
Weighing the odds in favour of many against the odds of a corrupted one, Strangeblood agrees and takes an enchanted soul scarab from The King of Worms in order to trap Prince Carolis's soul, who has now turned himself into a Lich. His soul will find its way inside the gem once his corporeal form has been destroyed.
So off Strangeblood went into the dungeons of Castle Sentinel. He attuned to the scarab along the way to ensure that he could use its energy to guide him along the way. He did not want to tarry in a place he didn't belong by any means.
He found a lift at the end of a narrow hallway in a random corner of the dungeon and floated upwards using his magic only to find a series of levers that activate magical bars that keep people out. Or perhaps, they're meant to keep Prince Karolis in...
He uses the same clairvoyance in order to figure out the solution to the puzzle as if he was a part of the royal family and solved it in record time.
He then went forth, fearing the upcoming battle against one so well-versed in that which he has merely started his journey and found himself surprised when he was able to kill the Lich with just one hit.
He then travelled back to The King of Worms to learn that the Totem of Tiber Septim was actually a device of great power made by Zurin Arctus, the battlemage to Emperor Tiber Septim, and was stolen from him. It was meant to control a powerful artefact named the Numidium and hence was made to only be used by either someone of Tiber Septim's bloodline or Zurin Arctus himself.
And with that information and being overwhelmed by the creepy ambience, Strangeblood makes his way back to Menevia to address that which had been calling him all along.
